FAQs about World Bank Government Analytics Fellowship
Who is the fellowship for?
The Government Analytics Fellowship is for mid-level managers and senior analysts in the central government who are interested in leveraging data to enhance public administration.
What does a competitive application look like?
We want to see projects that address leveraging government data to enhance public administration. That is, your proposed project needs to be about making government work better, not specifically analysing one policy. For instance, a tax administration project is more likely to succeed than a tax policy project. We also hope to see that you have access to the data needed and that your sponsoring organisation is wholeheartedly behind your project, which should be illustrated in your support letter.
What materials can assist me in learning about government analytics?
You can start with the Government Analytics Handbook. The first chapter introduces you to what government analytics is. We also have an intro video and a set of videos on the handbook site. If you don't get selected for the fellowship, you still get to use our online course, which provides much of the same information.
Will there be fellowships in the future?
We will be providing an annual fellowship with a component in D.C. We are also considering regional fellowships and communities of practice. If your organisation is interested in sponsoring these activities, we'd like to hear from you.
I am a government employee. Do I qualify?
Yes, if you are a senior analyst or mid-level manager in a central government agency and have the power to create a government analytics project, you qualify.
