Every year University of Science and Technology China annouce different international scholarships and fellowships programs for world students to Study in China. This year they announced its USTC Fellowship / Scholarship 2025 program to facilitate international students for their higher education. This USTC Scholarship supports students with all-inclusive funding for education. Grants are for tuition fees, accommodation, and monthly allowance that amount to 2,500 RMB for undergraduates scholarship, 3,000 RMB for masters scholarship candidates, and 7,000 RMB for Ph.D. scholarship holder. What are the Financial Benefits of USTC Scholarship 2025 in China For BS, MS, PhD?

Undergraduate Scholarship Programs:

This Fellowship grants awards to undergraduate students in two types:
Level A: The scholarship includes a full tuition fee waiver, as well as medical insurance, a monthly stipend of 2,500 RMB and a housing allowance.
Level B: In this scholarship, only funding is provided for tuition fees.

Masters Degree Scholarship Programs:

Again, when it comes to master students, there do exist two fund levels in the case of Fellowship at USTC.
Level A: They give a waiver of tuition fees, provide comprehensive medical insurance, a stipend in the amount of 3,000 RMB per month, and will also be accommodated.

Level B: Funding is from the Ministry of Education or USTC, providing students with a tuition waiver, full medical insurance, a monthly stipend of 3,500 CNY, and accommodation.

Eliglibty Crieiria for USTC Chinese Scholarship 2025

Undergraduate Programs

  1. The applicants need to be citizens of other nationalities, carrying a valid passport, and being of good physical and mental condition.
  2. They have to pass at least HSK Level 5.
  3. For those with Chinese as their native tongue or who can present proof of having attended school where Chinese was the medium of instruction are exempted from taking HSK.
  4. Mainland emigrants from China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan should have acquired citizenship of another country prior to April 30, 2021.
  5. From the date of April 30, 2021, to April 30, 2025, the candidates should have been abroad for two years.
  6. He/ She should have at least passed high school until July 2025
  7. Candidates' age should be less than thirty years as of September 1, 2025.
  8. Graduates should provide a Pre-graduation Certificate stating that they will graduate and be awarded their degree by July 2025.
  9. All Chinese scholarship holders on other scholarships for the academic year 2025/2026.

Master's Programs

  1. Non-Chinese citizen passport holders with good physical and mental health
  2. Must have a bachelor's degree
  3. Those who are expected to graduate before July 2025 will provide a Pre-graduation Certificate when confirm completion of their studies.
  4. Applicants must be under the age of 35 years by 1st September 2025.
  5. For Chinese-taught programs, a candidate needs to have passed HSK Level 4 or above.
  6. Native Chinese speakers or those with proof of having studied in a Chinese medium institution are exempted.
  7. For the English-taught program, proof of English proficiency is required.
  8. Applicants must meet the international student admission requirements set by USTC.
  9. The recipient may not accept another assignment during the scholarship period.

PhD Programs

  1. Applicants should be citizens other than Chinese nationality, possess a valid passport and good health.
  2. The applicant should hold at least a master's degree,
  3. Graduating, a pre-graduation certificate is issued that confirms the completion of a study before July 2025.
  4. For Fellowship level A at USTC, the applicant should not be above 35 years as of September 1, 2025, whereas in the case of level B / C, not above 40 years on the same date.
  5. For Chinese language teaching programs, applicants should have HSK Level 4 or above.
  6. Exemptions are given to the speakers of the language as a mother tongue or those who previously studied in Chinese language and medium schools.
  7. Instructors of English language-taught programs require evidence of proficiency in English.
  8. Applicants must meet any international admission requirements from the USTC.
  9. Scholarship holders during their fellowship cannot undertake another assignment.
  10. Current students pursuing any PhD at any university within China are not eligible to apply for USTC Fellowship Level A.
  11. No one applying for Level A can apply for the CAS-ANSO Scholarship while applying to UCAS; only one supervisor from the institute or school at UCAS or USTC.

USTC Required Documents for Scholarship in China

Undergraduate Degree programs:

  1. Include a clear copy of your valid passport.
  2. Provide notarized photocopies of your senior high school graduation certificate and transcripts.
  3. Submit photocopies of your HSK Level 5 certificate and transcripts.
  4. Complete and submit the Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
  5. Include a letter of recommendation.
  6. Any documents not in Chinese or English must have notarized translations in either language.

Master's and PhD Degree programs:

  1. Provide a study or research proposal outlining your intended project.
  2. Include a clear copy of your valid passport.
  3. Submit two letters of recommendation.
  4. Complete and submit the Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
  5. Provide proof of your English proficiency.
  6. Certificate copies of degree certificates and academic transcripts about your Bachelor's and Master's degrees must be submitted.
  7. If you are a university student, attach copies of official documents that confirm your status and when you will graduate to receive your degree certificate.
  8. Bring documents showing the reason and time you should receive the certificate, if you graduated but cannot present your degree certificate.
  9. If you are working, provide official documents showing your employment status and permission to be released for study.
  10. Any documents in other than Chinese or English shall be attached with the notarized translation into one of the said languages.

Application Procedure for USC Scholarship 2025 for Undergraduate, Masters and PhD

Applying for for USTC Fellowship 2025 in China For BS, MS, PhD is straight forward process, i have outlined the process below:

  1. Account registration on the online application system.
  2. Fill in all the details and upload the documents asked for, as specified in the system.
  3. Once your application is submitted, start checking the email account which you used to access the application system. Here is where you would get the communication about extra documentation required, online interview details, etc.
  4. You don't need to look for a host supervisor in the online application process.
  5. All your submitted documents will be forwarded to the schools and departments for reviewing
  6. Schools and departments will make arrangements for you to have online interviews at a later date
  7. The professors will then make a selection of whom to take based on your application material and interview performance.
