Wuhan University CSC Scholarship supports international students pursuing master’s and PhD degrees in China through the Chinese Government Scholarship’s High Level Postgraduate Program. The fully funded award covers tuition, accommodation, a living allowance and medical insurance under CSC terms. The previous application round has closed, and a 2027 opening date or deadline was not confirmed as of November 1, 2026. This guide helps you prepare while waiting for the next official notice.

Start by choosing a program that matches your earlier studies and research interests. Check its teaching language and academic requirements before preparing your documents. When the next call appears, compare its instructions with your prepared application and update anything that has changed.

Application status and the correct scholarship route

For the previous round, the university’s admissions brochure listed November 15, 2025 to February 25, 2026 for the High Level Postgraduate Program. That schedule is historical. It should not be presented as an open application window or carried forward automatically to 2027.

The reference used here is Wuhan University’s 2026 graduate admissions brochure, available through Türkiye’s public education office. Its scholarship section and international program lists help explain the previous cycle. A fresh call can change deadlines, eligible majors or document rules.

Type B and other routes are different

The university-nominated graduate scholarship is separate from embassy-nominated Type A applications. Bilateral awards follow the receiving agency’s own instructions. Likewise, a China-Link research visit or a self-funded admission window is not the same as a funded master’s or PhD application.

Some Chinese embassies have announced 2027/2028 scholarship calls. Those country-specific notices do not establish Wuhan’s Type B deadline. Check which authority receives your application before choosing a category or entering an agency number.

Consult the university admissions brochure. Recheck the Wuhan admissions website for any replacement notice before acting.

Degree programs and teaching languages

Within its graduate catalog, Wuhan lists the following English-taught programs. This is a selection from the published catalog, not a guarantee that every major will receive CSC places in the next call. Confirm the exact degree title, language, supervisor and scholarship availability before choosing.

Master’s program examples

  • International Business and International Law.
  • Software Engineering and E-Commerce.
  • Electrical Engineering and Hydraulic Engineering.
  • Clinical Medicine, Public Health and Nursing.
  • Media and Communication Study and Ethics.
  • Geodesy and Surveying Engineering.
  • Cartography and Geographic Information Engineering.
  • Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

Doctoral program examples

  • Software Engineering, E-Commerce and Electrical Engineering.
  • Chemistry and Materials Science and Engineering.
  • International Law.
  • Geodesy and Surveying Engineering.
  • Cartography and Geographic Information Engineering.
  • Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
  • Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Mechanics.

Review the course description rather than relying on a broad subject label. A strong match connects your previous training with a particular research problem or professional goal. If the program involves clinical work or professional practice, check recognition and any additional admission conditions with the relevant authorities.

Bachelor’s applicants need the separate undergraduate admission and funding routes. The graduate Type B program described here should not be advertised as a bachelor’s scholarship. Published master’s durations vary by major; the brochure commonly lists two or three years, while doctoral examples run for four.

Fully funded scholarship benefits

The official CSC coverage summary explains the standard full-CSC benefits below. Wuhan’s final award notice determines the approved support and study period.

  • Tuition: full coverage for the approved scholarship period.
  • Accommodation: a university dormitory or housing support, as arranged for the award.
  • Living allowance: CNY 3,000 per month for master’s students or CNY 3,500 for doctoral students under standard full-CSC rules.
  • Medical insurance: comprehensive coverage under the scholarship terms.

Tuition and academic study

Tuition support applies to the approved program and award period. It is not a promise that every extra course, personal purchase or optional activity will be reimbursed. Keep the admission notice and scholarship conditions together so you can compare what the university has confirmed.

Accommodation support

CSC guidance provides for a university dormitory or an accommodation subsidy. Ask the university which arrangement applies to your award. Confirm room allocation and arrival arrangements before making a private housing commitment.

These are the published full-CSC benchmarks, not currency-converted estimates. Actual payment arrangements and eligibility follow the scholarship rules. Plan for arrival costs and personal spending instead of assuming every expense will be covered.

Medical insurance and other costs

Comprehensive medical insurance forms part of the full package. Review its coverage and exclusions after admission. International travel, visa charges and other personal expenses should not be treated as funded unless the relevant award explicitly includes them. A scholarship also does not guarantee a visa.

The embassy notice’s national application deadline applies to Sweden, not to Wuhan’s Type B route. Use Wuhan’s own intake notice for the university timetable.

“Requesting academic references? Our guide to the recommendation letter for CSC scholarship applications can help you prepare a clear request for your referees.”

Eligibility, language evidence and documents

Who can prepare an application?

  • Non-Chinese citizens with strong academic preparation and suitable health.
  • Master’s applicants: a bachelor’s degree or equivalent; standard CSC age limit is under 35.
  • PhD applicants: a master’s degree or equivalent; standard CSC age limit is under 40.
  • Applicants must also meet the selected university program’s requirements.

CSC scholarship limits and ordinary admission limits are not always identical. Meeting the general university admission age rule does not automatically satisfy scholarship eligibility. Use the next scholarship notice to resolve any difference before applying.

Is IELTS compulsory?

There is no blanket language-test waiver. The graduate brochure lists IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80 or TOEFL Essentials 8 for English-taught study. An English-medium previous degree or native English background may support an exemption if approved by Wuhan. Chinese-taught programs require the relevant HSK evidence.

For a possible exemption, obtain an official letter that identifies your degree and teaching language. Ask the admissions office whether it meets the selected program’s rules. A medium-of-instruction letter documents past study; it does not itself approve your admission.

Documents to organize

  • Passport identity page and relevant visa records, if applicable.
  • Degree certificates or the permitted expected-graduation evidence.
  • Academic transcripts and required certified translations.
  • Two appropriate academic recommendation letters.
  • Personal statement and research plan; the graduate brochure specifies at least 1,000 words.
  • Language evidence and any university-approved exemption.
  • Physical examination documentation and any additional CSC or program-specific records.

Check the new call for document validity periods, authentication, supervisor or pre-admission requirements and any supplementary forms. Upload clear scans and retain the originals for verification. Do not assume an old passport-validity date or previous upload checklist is still acceptable.

How to apply for the Wuhan University CSC Scholarship

  1. Wait for the relevant Wuhan graduate scholarship notice and read its deadline.
  2. Choose an eligible major and confirm the teaching language and academic requirements.
  3. Prepare your academic records, references, language evidence and research plan.
  4. Complete the CSC application using the category instructed by Wuhan.
  5. Complete the Wuhan University international admissions application as well.
  6. Check every attachment, submit within the official window and save both application records.
  7. Monitor official email instructions for interviews, pre-admission or supplementary materials.

The published Wuhan Type B instructions use agency number 10486. This number belongs to the university route; it should not replace the agency number supplied by an embassy for Type A. Both systems matter, and an unfinished saved form should not be treated as a submitted application.

Use the official CSC system and Wuhan admissions portal. Confirm any supervisor contact or pre-admission step in the relevant scholarship notice. Keep a record of the application numbers and the email address used so you can follow up accurately.

Application fees and final checks

Avoid a general “no application fee” promise. The university’s ordinary graduate brochure contains an application fee, while scholarship-specific instructions can provide a waiver. Verify which rule applies to your exact scholarship category before paying. Use official university channels for any payment or clarification.

Give your research plan a clear question, a realistic method and a reason for choosing the program. Ask referees early and provide them with an accurate academic summary. Before submission, check that your degree titles, dates and name match across the two applications.
